WEG – WEG transformers expand power supply capacity in Recife, Brazil

The project was part of the transmission network reinforcement plan authorized by ANEEL and included the complete modernization of the substation infrastructure

WEG participated in all stages of the modernization project of the Bongi Substation in Recife, Brazil, strengthening the power supply system of the metropolitan area surrounding the capital of Pernambuco. Completed in the second half of 2025, the project significantly increased the substation’s transformation capacity, from 400 MVA to 900 MVA of installed power, providing greater reliability, operational flexibility, and safety to the region’s electrical system.
