DEHN – This is how § 14a can be implemented: DEHN makes electricity consumption controllable in new and existing buildings.

DEHN

To ensure long-term grid stability, the German legislature has established binding framework conditions for controllable load devices with Section 14a of the Energy Industry Act (EnWG).

The focus is on systems with a capacity exceeding 4.2 kW. Since January 1, 2024, these must be designed to be grid-oriented and controllable. With the ramp-up of electromobility, heat pump technology, and decentralized energy storage, the power demand in the low-voltage grid is increasing significantly. At the same time, the publication of the new VDE-AR-N 4100 standard, the expansion of technical infrastructure such as control boxes and smart metering systems by grid operators, and new grid fee models are increasing the urgency of this issue.
