ZVEI – Battery production reaches record – industry warns of growing dependence

• Electromobility and the storage market will cause the battery market to grow again in 2025.
• Competitiveness and resilience of the battery production site nevertheless at risk

Battery production in Germany reached an all-time high in 2025. Production of lithium-ion batteries, in particular, increased by nearly a third (+28%) to €4.6 billion. Across all battery chemicals, production, after bottoming out in 2024, reached a new all-time high of €8.1 billion (+11%).
