ZVEI – ZVEI survey: Population in Germany clearly in favor of underground cables and against overhead lines

• More than two thirds prefer underground cables for the expansion of the high-voltage network – not even one in five prefers overhead lines
• Debate about underground cable priority underestimates the will of the population – more than one in three would join the protest movement against HVDC overhead lines
• ZVEI is committed to the goal of low network charges – avoiding conflicts makes an important contribution 

The current debate about suspending the priority for underground cables has hardly any support among the population, as a Civey survey commissioned by the ZVEI shows.
