IEA – Monthly Electricity Statistics

In March 2024, the total net electricity production in total OECD reached 883.7 TWh, decreasing by 0.3% compared to the same period last year. 

On a year-to-date basis, total net electricity production increased by 2.5% in the first quarter of 2024.

Electricity generation from fossil fuels amounted to 394.5 TWh in March 2024, marking a decline of 4.6% compared to March 2023. This reduction was largely driven by lower electricity output from coal, which witnessed a 10.2% year-on-year decrease, followed by gas with a decrease of 1.9% y-o-y.
